About The Lion's Share

The Lion’s Share is a Gaslamp restaurant with a menu featuring exotic game alongside unique twists on familiar classics. The plates are all shareable so you can indeed enjoy bison tartare alongside salt and pepper frog legs alongside grilled baja oysters with crab and coconut curry. Have you ever had a day where you craved bison and frog legs in the same sitting? Well, you’re in luck. The Lion’s Share has you covered.

Inside, the ambience complements the exotic menu, with chandeliers and candelabras hang from the ceilings, casting a warm glow against the dark furniture, while velvety curtains are drawn back around the room entrances. Taxidermy animals adorn the walls – think peacocks in full plumage and a majestic growling mountain lion – next to whimsical, renaissance-style paintings of aristocratic foxes and lions enjoying high society. It is obvious that each piece of furniture, glassware, and seating at The Lion’s Share was meticulously selected to give you an experience that matches the adventurous spirit of the menu.

It should not go unmentioned that the Lion’s Share has one of the best happy hours in San Diego with solid discounts on cocktails and food.

Behind The Counter

Started by locals Hassan Mahmood and Roy Ledo in 2011, the Lion’s Share is currently co-owned by Roy Ledo and Carlos Valente. Having worked extensively in the hospitality industry, the founders were inspired to create their own themed restaurant that could serve as a playground for unique food, cocktails, and social gatherings. Originally working with Chef Lhasa Landry to craft an adventurous and elevated menu, the restaurant welcomed new executive chef Dante Romero to their kitchen in 2024 with a background in Mexican and French cuisine.
