East County refers to, you guessed it, a large region in eastern San Diego County that contains several small towns and neighborhoods including La Mesa, El Cajon, Spring Valley, Santee, Alpine, Jamul, Poway, Ramona, and extends out into the reservoirs and rolling foothills of the Laguna Mountains and Cleveland National Forest. Each of the towns in East County have their own downtown hubs with plenty of shopping, dining, and culture and the open spaces of the region allows for hiking, fishing, animal sanctuaries, and a greater integration with nature. A nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of urban life, East County is a transition between city living and country living.
