We love San Diego. But let’s not forget our nearby neighbors when you need to get out of town for a minute. To the east is beautiful Anza Borrego Desert State Park, one of the biggest state parks in the country with abundant wildlife, amazing camping, a bohemian little art town, and wildflower blooms. To the south is the Baja Peninsula – with endless stretch of coast for surfing, diving, fishing, or boating, as well as the lively and always fun Tijuana. South of there is Ensenada and Valle Guadalupe – a lovely wine region with Michelin star restaurants hiding in the hills. Heading north you enter Orange County and head toward LA, but there are plenty of interesting stops along the way. And west, well, that’s the ocean.
