About The Magnolia

The Magnolia in El Cajon is a great smaller concert venue in San Diego, hosting music and comedy shows in the heart of the neighborhood. Their line up is pulled in by Live Nation so they bring in decently good acts for the region. They do serve food outside in their courtyard before shows, and cocktails and beer inside during shows, but we suggest going to one of the bars or restaurants on the main strip before the show. Venue drinks are expensive.

Behind The Counter

The Magnolia used to be the East County Performing Arts Center before a multi-million dollar renovation and reopening in 2019, after spending a decade sitting closed and unused. The venue is funded by the city and is part of El Cajon’s plan to rejuvenate its downtown. The venue brings locals and visitors alike to El Cajon’s Main Street where other local businesses can benefit and the town square can feel like a town square again.
