About Mic Drop Comedy San Diego
Mic Drop Comedy is a comedy club in the Convoy District orbit that makes it a point to have patrons and comedians feel welcome and well cared for during their visit. The place is cozy, but they draw big name touring comedians from around the country, while also supporting the local San Diego comedy scene. They serve beer, wine, and cocktails, as well as a full dinner menu (though eating while watching comedy seems weird, but maybe we are weird). The place is always a good time as you are seated at group tables and damn near forced to have fun with your fellow comedy lovers.
Just don’t laugh too hard and choke on a taquito.

Behind The Counter
The venue for Mic Drop Comedy San Diego is not new – it was a comedy club called Comedy Palace for 25 years before it shut down during Covid. Hillary Hutson and Casey Currier, Phoenix-based owners of the Mic Drop Comedy brand, took over the venue in 2022. They have strived to keep the same local feel as Comedy Palace with plenty of nods to the former owners in the decor. Also, much of the art on display at Mic Drop is sourced from local San Diego artists. Hutson and Currier are also dedicated to boosting local San Diego talent as showcased by their Gold Room – a 50 chair smaller section that serves as a laboratory of sorts for smaller local comedians and entertainers to hone their craft.
