About Polite Provisions

Polite Provisions in North Park is a decorative and ornate cocktail bar that has tasteful flourishes everywhere you look – including in the cocktails themselves. The bar feels like a throwback to the Art Noveau days of the early 1900s with their intricate level of detail in everything from the decor to the menu to the drinks themselves.

The cocktail menu is several pages long and will fit any taste you’re looking for – spirit forward, refreshing, tropical, or maybe just give your bartender a feeling and they’ll make you something unique. Polite Provisions is a great place to go for one more drink after a successful dinner date (take them to Wormwood). Or with a friend you want to impress by showing them a true cocktail bar.

Located on a bustling corner in North Park, Polite Provisions is a great bar in a great part of town. Within a few steps is Wormwood, Swan Bar, Fortunate Son, Cantina Mayahuel, and the very popular An’s Dry Cleaning. At Polite Provisions there’s often a line outside, especially on weekends, so plan accordingly.

Behind The Counter

Polite Provisions is owned by Consortium Holdings, a San Diego-based restaurant group that seemingly can do no wrong when they lay their hands on a project. They are the team behind Lafayette Hotel, False Idol, Neighborhood, Underbelly, Youngblood, Morning Glory, Born and Raised, Raised By Wolves… is that enough? Because there is more.

Arsalun Tafazoli, the founder of CH and a local San Diegan, wanted to up the game of San Diego’s eating and drinking establishments back in 2007 and he has done that. He started from humble beginnings with Neighborhood, originally a craft beer bar in East Village, and has not stopped since. While CH is somewhat of an empire these days, at least it is a local empire. The San Diego equivalent of Danny Meyer in New York.
