About Royal Food Mart

Tucked in the residential streets of Bankers Hill is the Royal Food Mart, a deli and grocery store with some of the best sandwiches in San Diego, and plenty of sundries in case you forgot to stock your pantry or fridge.

All made-to-order, their sandwiches are simple, delicious and reasonably priced. Cold sandwiches include classics like an Italian sub, a Southwest turkey sandwich, and our personal favorite the Royal Roast Beef, which comes with London Broil roast beef on sourdough with honey mustard, Swiss cheese, lettuce, and sweet dried cherries that add something special. If you want a hot sandwich, they have options like a New York reuben, a Muffuletta, and a tasty breakfast sandwich for the early risers. We always grab a fresh baked cookie (we suggest you do too).

Accompanying the sandwiches is a pretty stocked grocery store including olive oils, pickles, condiments, breads, crackers, cured meats, chocolates, and other essential items for the home. Their beverage selection is just as good, including craft beers, wines, teas, kombuchas, and the ultimate sandwich companions like root beers and cream sodas.

It even feels old timey in there, like you’re walking into a 1930’s deli. That might be because their fridge (from which you can grab your tasty beverage) is restored from 1932 with the original wood paneling. Small, quaint, and local, it feels good grabbing your lunch at the Royal Food Mart.
