About Sunset Cliffs

Sunset Cliffs is a stretch of coastline south of Ocean Beach that offers some of the most stunning views in all of San Diego County. The cliffs start around Adair Boulevard in OB and run south all the way to Sunset Cliffs Natural Park. The shorefront and cliffs continue south of that all the way to Cabrillo National Monument on the southernmost tip of Point Loma, but the land south of Sunset Cliffs Natural Park is private (military, college). It is great for a casual walk with the family or the dog, or a solo walk alone to contemplate life, love, and the pursuit of happiness.

Walking the coastline from the south to the north is one of the best walks you can do in San Diego. Or pull up and park, find a spot on the cliffs, bring a chair, and relax, read, and watch the sunset. The park itself is a public city park with trails winding through scrub and occasionally popping out onto the cliffs themselves with endless stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. Surfers fill up the breaks that run along the coast, each with its own unique name and type of wave. At low tide you can walk down the stairs near the entrance to the park and look for creatures in the tide pools.
