About Mothership

Mothership is one of the best tiki bars in San Diego because you don’t even know it is a tiki bar. You might even call it a sneaky bar. Sniki bar. Anyway. Mothership, located in South Park, is a space-themed bar and restaurant that truly goes all out with the experience.

Designed by artist Ignacio Gonzalez, the place is darkly lit with shooting stars streaking across the ceiling, moon rocks and alien plant life adorning the walls, and out of this world cocktails that will literally send you into orbit. Even the bathroom feels like you are inside of a space shuttle. Like Jon Hammond says, they’ve spared no expense and the place is all the better for it.

Mothership serves dinner, giving only a few items to choose from but all of them are well thought out and delicious. This place had a lot of buzz when it first opened and probably everyone in San Diego should go here at least once. It is still one of the best restaurant experiences you can get in this city.

Behind The Counter

Mothership is mainly the project of local San Diegan Kory Stetina, who also owns Kindred – the vegan restaurant and cocktail bar located in South Park.
